Spent some one-on-one time with Hank the other day, poor guy, he’s such a sweet boy that he ends up getting overlooked by just about everyone. That includes the other dogs, even Chloe who we’ve only had for a little over a month. Sometimes I think he uses that to his advantage though.
This past Fall Kevin and I discovered an awesome buttermilk strawberry muffin recipe, I got rave reviews from everyone who tried it, including the dogs. Hankster in particular! I had just finished making a batch of these muffins earlier in the day, Kevin was getting ready for our date that night and I decided to get a quick bite to eat. I grabbed a muffin, leaving the tray of them on the counter since I was planning on eating over the sink so as not to make a mess or dirty a dish; I didn’t think anything of leaving the muffins where they were since Hank was the only other body in the kitchen and he never went counter-surfing… or so I thought.
I had just popped the last bit of my muffin into my mouth and turned around to throw away the wrapper, what do I see, Hankster eating a muffin off of the kitchen floor! Somehow the brat-face had stealthily managed to jump on the counter, grab a muffin, eat most of it, all without me hearing a thing! Impressive as I was only three, maybe four feet away from him and the muffin tray at the time.
Needless to say I salvaged the rest of that muffin and shared the remaining piece with the other dogs, it was only fair. (I know he earned that muffin, but he didn’t need to eat the whole thing, it was a big muffin)
